Bai Suqing immediately wrung her hands in panic. “How can you say that? I can’t compare to sister, please don’t say it like that…”
“You don’t have to be scared! All of us have seen your potential. You don’t fall short when compared to Mu Rulan!” The young boy thought that Bai Suqing was being too modest, so he shouted it loudly for everyone to hear.
He was pleased by his own actions. He thought that at least one senior would have to agree with him, at least one person who saw the same Bai Suqing he did, a great person. He believed it was just that they didn’t dare voice their thoughts due to Mu Rulan’s enormous reputation that had only grown over the years.
Now that he had brought it up, surely there would be someone that it resonated with, so they could fight alongside him!
Bai Suqing was gritting her teeth. She wished badly to cut the mouthy boy to pieces.
The atmosphere swooped low to a freezing point. No one could be certain who it was, but someone shouted out angrily, “Where did this braindead boy come from?!”
With just that sentence, the atmosphere exploded into frenzied speech.
“Wtf! Do you have problems with your brain? Do you think President-sama is someone you can speak of so carelessly?”
“Screw you! Shaming our class!” Translated by The Novelst
“…” The bus began to shake. Someone took care of the brainless boy while the people outside of the bus naturally turned their anger to Bai Suqing.
“You’re really something, huh? Bai Suqing, I never realized your dreams were so wild!”
“Screw you! Get out of senior year! If I see you again, you’ll regret it!”
“Since when did the student council allow just anyone off the street in? Vice President Shu’s only been a replacement for a few days, does she think she can just replace Lan Lan just like that?”
Bai Suqing lowered her head, body shivering. She didn’t refute any of the statements being thrown at her, but she continued to curse that brainless moron in her heart.
It was said that a boneheaded teammate could do one more harm than the most formidable opponent. Today it had proven correct!
That pighead! That kind of speech would work if spoken to the sophomores, but the people here were all seniors! The grade with he most supporters dead loyal to Mu Rulan. And this kid actually dared slander her before them; wasn’t it him seeking out death?
What was worse that he had actually dragged her down with him, disrupting her plans!
Mu Rulan let out a sigh, bringing the focus to herself before she spoke, “Never mind, it seems like Liu Silan has come to a point where they need new blood.”
“President!” Chen Qing immediately responded. What Mu Rulan was saying seemed to hint that she was willing to hold another round of elections for the position of president of the student council?
“We’ll discuss this after the exchange program. We should all board the buses, they’re about to depart.”
The moron from Class C was thrown outside the bus to stand alongside Bai Suqing. No other students from the other buses were willing to let them on, even Class F.
The buses passed them one by one. The two people were standing in the sunlight, looking especially awkward. As the last bus passed the pair, someone stretched out their head to splash a handful of water on Bai Suqing’s face.
The occupants of the bus burst into laughter as they drove away.
Bai Suqing stood there, head hanging as the water dripped from her hair to the floor, looking like a drowned mouse. The young boy, glaring at the bus disappearing into the horizon, mumbled, “Damn it…”
His words stuttered to a stop as his face slowly developed a terrified expression. He saw Bai Suqing glaring at him with bloody resentment, like those ferocious ghosts that usually appeared in movies…
Outside Ziyuan High School, the other buses had arrived first and their bus was last to their destination.
As the door to the bus opened, Mu Rulan was the first to descend with her crutches.
Because of her injury, her footsteps seemed a little slow. So she backed away from the line and walked on her own very slowly. Many people paid attention to Mu Rulan, since it was their first time seeing her. She was just like… a fallen angel.
A golf cart slowly approached Mu Rulan.
“Get on,” said an icy tone from behind her. Without needing to turn back, she could already guess who it was.
She was still a little surprised to see him there, stretching out a hand and waiting for her response.
“No need, I can just walk like this,” she said, smiling and shaking his hand.
Mo Qianren didn’t budge, still bent forward with his hand outstretched. He stared quietly at her, a sort of stubbornness in his eyes.
Mu Rulan looked at him for a while; the others were also watching them. Finally, she couldn’t bear it any longer and helplessly stretched her hand out to meet his: “Fine, if you insist.”
His hand was slightly cold, while hers was warm like the sun. Both their temperaments could be said to be the same as their temperatures – one like the cold moonlight and the other like the hot afternoon sun.
The golf cart moved slowly forward as Mu Rulan reassured the students that she would be going on ahead of them. Mo Qianren spoke out. “Your legs are in the way.”
She blinked innocently. “So?” Translated by The Novelst
“They’re in the way.” His gaze didn’t move from its focus on the path.
Mu Rulan silently deduced the meaning behind his words. Because her legs were in the way, she walked very slowly so he found it unsightly, which was why he had offered to give her a lift? Was that the logic? But… why did it sound weird?
After a while, she finally came to understand what was so odd about it. He had equalized her being “in the way” and “giving help.” If it was a normal person, if he saw poop in his path, he wouldn’t go out of his way to pick it up, right?
As if she had realized something, Mu Rulan chuckled silently and looked forward.
