Jin Biaohu threatened Mu Rulan and said that if she didn’t go in, they would throw Mu Rulin in instead. So Mu Rulan was forced to enter, choking down sobs the entire way.
Inside the room, it was so dark no one could see anything. After sending Mu Rulan in, they lost track of her: they only heard her shout the few words they had coached her through before going in. After that, they heard a sudden, shill scream, and the sound of struggling, before it quieted down.
The three men standing outside the room were unable to look away from the room, sweating nervously.
But after a few minutes, they heard Mu Rulan’s voice again, sounding quite happy. “Guys, come in quickly! It turns out there was some sort of misunderstanding… Oh! Thank you…”
Mu Rulan seemed to be the recipient of some sort of warm hospitality inside.
The three men outside looked at one another, staring at the dark entrance. Jin Biaohu looked at the driver and said, “You first.”
The driver held the iron rod tightly in his fist and walked in cautiously. Jin Biaohu and Huang Maozai gripped their own rods tightly and followed behind him.
The three figures sank gradually into the darkness.
As one’s senses first sunk then sharpened in the dark, the inner fears would be magnified alongside them.
The trio held their breaths as they walked to the faint light emanating from the phone.
The driver, leading them all, yelled, “Mu Rulan, ask him to turn on the lights!”
As he finished speaking, the light of his phone went out. A moaning sound echoed off the walls and the smell of blood washed over them thickly.
Huang Mao seemed to feel someone approaching. He was so frightened that he screamed in shock as he waved the rod in his hand. “Ahhh! Go away! Go away, go away! I’ll kill you, I’ll kill you! Go away!”
“B-Boss, set the light brighter…” Huang Maozai said, voice trembling.
Jin Biaohu shivered as he held his rod. His hands shook as he went to turn on the flashlight of his own phone, but the sound of one iron rod hitting another reverberated through the space. It scared Jin Biaohu and he dropped his phone.
The two began to panic once again. They swung their rods around wildly.
Huang Maozai felt suddenly that he had hit something. Soon after, he heard a heavy thud. Huang Maozai said immediately, “Boss, I think I hit that man’s knife out of his hands!”
Jin Biaohu heard his words and went immediately to pick up the phone beside his feet despite the tremors running through his hands. He shone the light in Huang Maozai’s direction. A face appeared immediately not too far from them: a woman’s face. It was Mu Rulan’s face!
“Mu, Mu Rulan!” Jin Biaohu and Huang Maozai both stared in shock at Mu Rulan.
“Ya… I’ve been discovered, huh,” Mu Rulan said, looking at them with a smile, tone of voice gentle. They still somehow found her creepy.
“D-Don’t tell me… are you the one who killed them?” Huang Maozai shuddered. Even his lips trembled as he spoke.
Mu Rulan’s smile deepened. “Well, who made you want to kill me? In order not to be killed myself, I had no choice but to kill you all instead ya. Don’t worry ya, it won’t be painful. Just a small cut on your neck and the blood pours out, like a gas leak,” said Mu Rulan.
The utility knife she was holding was already dyed a scarlet red and her hand was also stained with blood. She looked frightening.
“Bo… Boss…” Huang Maozai felt fear well inside him. Though he knew that the opponent was nothing more than a little girl and that she held nothing but a utility knife, the thought that she had killed two men in the blink of an eye and the calm gravity in her expression made him feel he had encountered something just as scary as a ghost.
He didn’t even have the courage to attack her. His legs shook so badly he wasn’t able to take a single step.
Jin Biaohu was also frightened, his mind completely blank.
There was a gentle smile at the corner of Mu Rulan’s mouth, the knife in her hand dripping red. She walked at a leisurely pace around them.
Jin Biaohu thought of something and look a sharp glance at Mu Rulan before lowering his head to mutter to Huang Maozai.
Huang Maozai nodded in understanding. He backed away from Jin Biaohu as Jin Biaohu gripped the rod tightly.
After all, Mu Rulan was no master of martial arts. He was taller than her and now they were both exposed. If they really wanted to fight, Mu Rulan would be at a disadvantage.
So they both rapidly retreated, walking backwards until they reached the open air once again. Mu Rulan followed them.
The combination of the presence of the dim lamp and the fact that Mu Rulin was still held hostage gave them a sense of relief.
Jin Biaohu positioned Mu Rulin before him and put one hand around his neck, looking avidly at Mu Rulan. “Throw that knife over here. Otherwise, I’ll break his neck!”
“That’s right, throw it over!” Huang Maozai had finally calmed down as he shouted this at Mu Rulan.
“Hurry up!” Jin Biaohu saw Mu Rulan continuing to smile, and felt panic in his heart. He couldn’t help but increase the strength in his hand, so that Mu Rulan could see his hand sink into the flesh of Mu Rulin’s neck.
Mu Rulan did indeed see this and her smile moved. She showed them the knife in her hands and said, “You want the knife? Sure. But if you dare put even a little more strength into that hand, I’ll make you regret you were born.”
Jin Biaohu was surprised and lightening his grip. “Hurry and throw it over!”
Mu Rulan threw the knife over without any hesitation. Huang Maozai quickly picked it up and held on to it tightly, panting heavily and seeming to be relieved.
